Our theme for July focuses on our great International icon Nelson Mandela and as Mandela Day, which is celebrated on July 18th.
This day is more than a celebration of Nelson Mandela’s life and legacy, The overarching objective of Mandela Day is to inspire individuals to take action to
help change the world for the better, and in doing so build a global movement for good. Ultimately it seeks to empower communities everywhere.
In the wise words of Nelson: "A society that does not value its older people denies it roots and endangers it future. Let us strive to enhance their capacity to
support themselves for as long as possible and when they cannot do so anymore, TO CARE FOR THEM"
Our home care business A-Motus, is privileged to be the choice for our many wonderful elderly clients in assisting, caring and supporting them daily. We hold
in the highest esteem the legacy that Nelson Mandela left behind and we strive to uphold the values of dignity, respect and compassion.
So our discussion will be about How will you "TAKE ACTION or INSPIRE CHANGE" with regards to an elderly person or loved one this month?
Elizabeth Marie Mkame an Age Demands Action activist , was inspired by Nelson Mandela to start up an Age Demands Action campaign and what is this
campaign all about?
Age Demands Action campaigners across the world are taking a stand against ageism by highlighting how widespread it is and how it leads to the
discrimination, stereotyping and abuse of older people everywhere. A UN convention to protect older people's rights will help end this, and we are working
tirelessly towards this end goal.
So perhaps for your 67 minutes on Mandela Day consider:
+ Assisting a senior relative, friend on how to use modern technology (watch this video for ideas:h ttps://zurl.co/S6Rp + Visiting an old age home and reading
or talking to someone who would value your companionship
+ Offering to take an elderly neighbour or loved one who can't drive to do their shopping/chores.
Or even closer to home, Call your parents and let them know that you love and appreciate them.
